Positive BehaviourSupport

Questions and answers

positivebehavioursupport.au is a free, independent service that connects Australians on the NDIS with registered behaviour support practitioners. Here are the questions people ask us most. For questions about behaviour support itself, see our guides.

Using this service

What does this service do?

We connect NDIS participants, families and support coordinators with registered behaviour support providers who have space for new clients. You answer a few questions, we pass your details to a suitable provider near you, and a practitioner contacts you.

Does it cost anything?

No. It's free for you. Providers pay us for introductions, which is how we keep it free. They can't charge you more because they found you through us, and the NDIS pricing rules still apply.

Are you part of the NDIS?

No. We're an independent service. We're not part of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) or the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, and we don't deliver behaviour support ourselves.

How soon will someone contact me?

It depends on the provider. We only pass your details to providers who are taking new clients, and we follow up to check you were contacted. If you haven't heard back, email us and we'll chase it.

Do you cover my area?

We take enquiries from every state and territory. Put your postcode in the form and we'll check which registered providers cover your area.

Can I use this if I'm not on the NDIS?

Yes, you can still get in touch. Most behaviour support is funded through the NDIS, so the practitioner will talk you through your options, including paying privately.

Your details

Who sees my details?

Only the registered behaviour support provider we match you with. If they can't help, we pass your details to another registered provider near you, one at a time, up to 3 in total. Nobody else gets them for their own marketing.

Can I change my mind?

Yes. Email hello@positivebehavioursupport.au and we'll stop passing your details on and let any provider we've introduced you to know.

Why do you ask about disability and support needs?

So the provider can tell straight away whether they're the right fit, and so you don't have to explain everything twice. We ask for your consent first because this is sensitive information.

For support coordinators and professionals

Can I refer a participant?

Yes. Use the referral form. Please check the participant, or their nominee, agrees to the referral first. We'll let you know who's picking it up.

I'm a behaviour support practitioner. Can I join?

If your organisation is registered with the NDIS Commission for specialist behaviour support and has space for new clients, register your interest on the practitioners page and we'll be in touch.
